Home ministry on Sunday extended the lockdown for another two weeks till May 13 watching the rising coronavirus cases. The detailed guidelines has to come soon.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today asked Ministries Departments of Government of India, State Governments and State Authorities to continue the lockdown measures up to 31 May, 2020.
The NDMA, in exercise of powers under Section 6 (2) (i) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, hereby directs the ministries and departments of the Government of India, state governments and state authorities to continue the lockdown measures up to 31
This is the 3rd time lockdown has extended in India. Also, some states such as Maharastra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu have already extended lockdown till 31st May as they are the worst affected in this coronavirus crisis.
What to expect from the coming guidelines
- Educational Institutes like college and schools will remain shut
- Metros will not operate
- Large Gathering Areas like temples, mosque, churches will remain closed.
- Some Industrial and economic word may start to run in green zones
Until now the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 90,927 while the death toll from Covid-19 has gone up to 2,872, according to the Sunday figures released by the Health Ministry today morning. In past 24 hours, 4,987 new cases, the highest one-day jump, and 120 deaths were reported.
