Cyber Cell arrests 4 persons for running fake call centre

Delhi: Cyber Cell arrested 4 persons for running a fake call centre that used to scam people by promising to provide cheap loans.

A complaint was filed on 21 July by Harsh, a resident of Shalimar Village, Delhi. He complaint that he received a call from a company offering unsecured loan on 0% interest by Bajaj Finserv

“Since the complainant was in need of a loan to start out a business, he enquired about the method and filled a application form that was sent to him on his Whatsapp number. the method required a transfer of ₹1.5 lakh within the checking account of the caller. After receiving the cash , the ‘call centre’ stopped all communication. Subsequently, an FIR was registered and considering the gravity and technical aspects of the case, the investigation was administered by the Cyber Cell North West District,” the statement said.

It further stated, “During the course of the investigation, specific cyber footprints were ascertained and every one the four accused persons, Kuldeep Mishra, Rajan Tiwari, Manish and Vinod Paswan, all residents of Delhi, were arrested on the idea of checking account details and technical surveillance.

“During sustained interrogation, it had been revealed that accused persons had found out a call center at New Multan Nagar. They procured the phone numbers and SIM Cards from other states and located phone numbers on Just Dial. They used fake IDs and addresses to open bank accounts. Further investigation of the case is ongoing ,” the police said.
