Delhi & neighbouring areas received heavy rainfall in the night.
THe weather department has predicted moderate rain and thunderstorms in many places of Delhi in the next 2 hours.
Continous Rain made Delhi temperature to 27 degrees in the morning, residents woke up to a good, pleasant day but have to face water logging and poor civic infrastructure
Early morning visuals shared by press agency ANI showed waterlogged roads in Mayur Vihar and other areas within the city. Pictures from Sector 29 in Gautam Buddh Nagar in neighbouring Noida were no different.
The weather department has predicted thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rain over many places in Delhi during subsequent 2 hours. The capital and adjoining regions of Noida and Gurugram are witnessing heavy showers since Wednesday.
“Waterlogging reported at Jhilmil Underpass (both carriageways). Traffic is affected now,” informed the Delhi Police.
The police further said that waterlogging was also reported in Rani Jhansi Road, MB Road and Lal Kuan.
“Waterlogging reported at Jhandewalan Mandir on Rani Jhansi Road, MB Road at Lal Kuan (both carriageway) and Ma Anandmayee Marg near DD Motors (both carriageway),” Delhi Police further tweeted.
“Traffic Alert: Water logging reported under Raja Garden flyover (both carriageways). Traffic is affected now,” it added.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), south-westerly winds from the Arabian Sea and south-easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture to the region, resulting in heavy rain.
“20-08-2020; 0415 IST; Thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rain would still occur over many places of entire Delhi, IGI Airport, Dadri, Ghaziabad, Etah, Noida, Greater-Noida, Ballabgarh, Faridabad, Gurugram, Manesar, Sohna, Modinagar, Meerut, Siyana, Gohana, Kharkhoda, Palwal, Hodal, Nuh, Jhajjar, Bulandshahar, Hapur, Gannaur, Farrukh Nagar, Kahrkhoda, Bahadurgarh, Bagpath during subsequent 2 hours,” the IMD tweeted.
