Modi announces Government’s Plas for environmental protection
On the Day of Independence from Red Fort, PM Modi launced several projects, from launching project to conserve Gangetic dolphins, asiatic lions to making Ladakh carbon neutral.
Delivering his speech from the Red Fort on 74th Independence Day, he said, “A special campaign is being worked out to reduce pollution in 100 cities”
While announcing plans for ladakh, he said, “Just like Sikkim has made its mark as an organic state, efforts are being made to make Ladakh a carbon-neutral region”
Currently Ladakh account for 0.1 per cent of the country’s total carbon emissions.
The term carbon-neutrality menas having a balance between carbon emissions and absorbing it from the atmosphere in carbon sinks.
Modi to push country’s biodiversity announced a 10-year project to conserve the Gangetic dolphin, which was declared the national aquatic animal in 2010.
In India, dolphins are sighted at long, deep rivers in Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal
The PM also said the govt will soon launch a project to conserve Asiatic lions.
