CM Yogi administration names COVID hotspots after mosques

Uttar Pradesh government has named 8 coronavirus hotspots in lucknow after mosques. There are total 18 coronavirus hotspots in Lucknow. Lucknow has so far reported 214 cases.

In the list of hotspots names like Masjid Ali Jaan in Sadar Bazar, Mohammadiya Masjid in Wazirganj, Khajoor Wali Masjid in Triveni Nagar, Nazarbadh Masjid in Kaiserbagh and Rajauli Masjid in Gudumba are there.

“The administration has named hotspots after mosques in Lucknow. This is unfortunate,” state Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu told PTI.

Samajwadi Party legislator Rajpal Kashyap also criticised the administration.

“What message does the administration want to give to the people by naming the hotspots after mosques,” he asked.

The administration has refuted claims that any particular community was being targeted. Officials said the mosques were only named due to the presence of positive cases.

The positive cases came from those areas with big masjids and this is why hotspots name are after them. There is no motive to it as said by government official.
